A Magical Day in San Fran
I woke up in San Francisco with nothing on my mind and no plans for the day, which is pretty unusual for me, so I perused Pinterest and settled on staying outdoors for most of the day, taking it easy and just exploring the city.
Starry Steps
I had an uber drive me to the top of the Starry Steps…at least that’s what I’m calling them, which are surprisingly located in a regular suburb. The views from this spot are gorgeous and it is a relatively quiet spot so it’s great for thinking, writing or just reflecting. I then decided to walk down the steps and head to the Golden Gate Park, conveniently located about 15 minutes away. There are some really interesting homes on the way.
Fairies at Golden Gate Park
I decided to follow the signs to the Japanese Tea Garden (even though it was closed at the time) and I ran into this stunning tree stump (above). If I didn’t see it myself, I would have thought that it weren’t real! Walking through the park I stumbled upon the cutest fairy door in a log that I have ever seen. I was looking for the more famous elf door, but I never found it so this was a great treat (below). I think this is one of the most picturesque parks I have ever been to.
A Meal to Remember
I headed to Ferry Building Market Place and ordered some roast chicken with a side of garlic bread from Il Cane Rosso and it was so good that a seagull attacked my meal before I got to it! I highly recommend having your meal indoors then stepping outside for a photo op as the birds are pretty reckless. Sadly, Il Cane has since shut down but the Ferry building has several delicious eateries to soothe your grumbling belly.
If you’re looking for a classic meal of scrumptiousness, then you must go to Boudin Bakery and have the Clam Chowder. It is just to die for! I also ordered a turkey sandwich just because I can’t find any amazing turkey sandwiches in the UAE and the sourdough bread was so scrumptious- I dream of that meal often as I begrudgingly walk towards the neighborhood Subway.
