Hi.

I am an Emirati foodie who was bit by the travel bug a couple of years ago.

Feel free to recommend your favorite restaurants and hotels for me to review!

24 hours in Bangkok- How to get robbed in Bangkok

24 hours in Bangkok- How to get robbed in Bangkok

Within my first hour in the capital of Thailand, I managed to have 3,000 Baht stolen from me!

As soon as my friends and I got our luggage in BKK, we headed to the taxi line and were quickly assigned a cab. The cab driver was a little odd, claiming not to understand English then radioing in to the cab company and asking them IN ENGLISH how to get to our hotel.

At this point we were already on the highway so we were stuck, and tired, so we quickly dozed off for the remaining 45 mins of the ride.

*THUMP* *THUMP* *THUMP* "Wake up! We arrive!", he said as he pounded on the glass.

Disorineted and fresh from Koh Samui, where a 30 minute ride would cost 800 Baht, I pulled out three thousand-Baht bills. He yanked the notes from my hand and flew out of the drivers seat, rushing to toss out our luggage with surprising vigor from the trunk before speeding off into the Bangkok traffic.

Luckily, the concierge had noted his plate number and I turned to him, still in a daze, and said: he took 3,000 Baht.

Audthaphol (photographed below) was sharp as a whistle and quickly realized what I was saying, having found the drivers actions odd as well, and rushed to tell his manager at the Holiday Inn who proceeded to call the cab company and assured me he would call the cops next.

Exhausted, we begrudgingly went up to our room, which despite our early arrival time (9:30 am), was ready for us. It wasn't even noon yet and we had already lived our own version of a The Hangover.

Then...I guess you'll have to tune in next week for the rest.
